The Council hopes that everyone had a lovely Christmas, which started for quite a lot of residents when they joined in with Carols around the Tree, followed by mulled wine and mince pies in St Swithun’s Church on Sunday 8 December.

The Chairman is very pleased to report that Father Christmas collected £200 during the carols for this year’s Charity of Headway.  A cheque was presented to them by the Chairman during the following week.

Here we are at the start of another year with another Christmas tree to dispose of –Biffa, on behalf of Vale of White Horse District Council, has arranged for trees to be collected from two sites within the village.
There will be a Christmas tree collection on Thursday 16 January at

  • Forest Side playing field car park
  • Playfield Road playing field car park

There was more fly tipping at Forest Side playing field car park in November, which was reported to the Environmental officer of the Vale of White Horse District Council, who is investigating this incident with a hope of prosecution.
The Road Safety Engineering Team of the Oxfordshire County Council is investigating extending the 30mph speed limit at the end of the village near Said Business School.

The Parish Council had a further meeting regarding the continued fly tipping issues surrounding Red Bridge Hollow, with all three Councils attending (i.e. the City, District and County) together with South Hinksey Parish Chairperson.
The Vale of White Horse District Council has removed the steel mesh panels from the front of the site.
At the time of writing the Vale of White Horse District Council was to produce an Implementation Plan for the Red Bridge Hollow site, which should be completed by Christmas – a further meeting is planned for February, with both Parish Councils continuing their pressure, and will report any further actions carried out.
